Copper Compass

This little etched compass design is from a stamp I collected several years ago. It is etched into copper to make a non-opening box and finished off with a unique tribal art bead and copper spiral. The chain is also hand made of aged copper, laquered to retain its look.

Sun Amulet

Everyone who has seen this piece loves it! An etched brass sun is soldered to a hammered copper round and hung from a copper bail. The pendant is attached to a leather cord necklace.

Found Flowers

Copper and brass etched pendant with a "hugs and kisses" dangle. The green beads are opaque glass and the amber glass bead is circa 1900 antique bead. The chain is hand-wrought copper links with leather cordage for the back of the neck.

Bundled Memory

I love boxes and containers and bundles. When I etched this 2x2 piece of copper I knew I wanted it to look like a bundle or purse - something that might hold secrets! An Asian-style bone bead dangles from the bundle and both are suspended on a distressed copper loop chain with hand painted bamboo beads.

Jabberwock

A distressed etched brass charm quotes the beginning of Jabberwocky from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland: "'Twas brilling and the slithy toves did gyre and gimble in the wabe."

Celtic Carnelian Swirls

A beautiful necklace that sits right at your collar bone - looser than a choker. It is modelled on a necklace found in a Celtic tomb. This version is made of sterling silver plated wire, copper and polished carnelians. There are matching earrings too!

Victorian Dream

My mother-in-law passed on some brass filagree findings that she had laying around. I almost threw them out - I'm not a fan of the bright shiny gold of brass - it looks tacky to me. I rescued them from the trash, however, when I found that applying heat changed the colors of the brass. In this piece the colors range from blue to orange and are truly unique looking.

The two bezel mounts on the side have a torn paper/resin center with a crackle finish. The little green and white cameo is an antique from my grandmother's store of cameos.

Inspire Love

The words "inspire love" popped into my head as I was creating some metal charms for a custom project. I made two rectangular plaques with each word and then brainstormed what to do with them. I love bamboo and wanted some light, neutral colors, so the plaques were affixed to bamboo beads with copper wirework hearts, four carnelian beads, two gorgeous ceramic beads and a hammered copper heart. Everything hangs from a copper chain.

Southwestern Sky

Hammered copper links and ceramic beads remind me of colors found in the desert southwest. The pendant is hammered copper with a lump of turqoise fastened with a unique spiral rivet.

Southwestern Sky was designed from the ceramic beads. I loved the bluish-green/brown color and wasn't sure what I wanted to do with them. After some experimentation I decided they looked best spaced out so you could really see each bead. I created the chain first and then spent a week searching for a pendant. At a local bead store I found the lump turquoise which matched in color, but was far too small for the chain on its own. After playing with framing options I went with the distressed background of hammered copper and fixed it on with a double spiral.

Maple Leaf Fantasy

Long copper scrolls link to green rough tumbled quartz to form the chain. The pendant is a hand-cut copper maple leaf with glass and pearl beads.

The maple leaf came first in this pendant. I received my new jeweler's saw and had a scrap piece of copper. I drew around a cookie cutter for the design and found it was very easy to cut out this shape with my new saw! The leaf is "dapped", curved inward, so the points of the leaf stick outward a bit. I wasn't sure about the chain for it - at first I thought just a plain leather cord. After practicing some scrolls and deciding I really liked how they looked as a chain I assembled the piece...only to find something missing. In came the green quartz pieces which are the exact color of leaves in springtime.

I Want Candy

These Murano glass beads caught my attention because they look like hard candies. See, I'm "eating healthy" which is basically another way of saying I'm dieting, and lots of things look like food to me. Anyway, the bits of candy are strung on sterline silver plate wire in two rows. If you look carefully you can see I used double jump rings between each bead - It adds some movement and sparkle. The chain is silver plated as well.
